14.00 The Big Choir (St Albans)

Resident at St Saviour’s every Tuesday evening for rehearsals, The Big Choir is a community fundraising choir with the aim of raising money for Cancer Research UK, and in particular The Francis Crick Institute, a fantastic research facility in Kings Cross, London.

To date the two choirs (the other based in East Barnet) have donated £200,000 to The Crick for Cancer Research, something we are all very proud of.

Alex Jenkins, harpist

Alex Jenkins is a folk singer and musician hailing from St Albans in Hertfordshire. His music draws inspiration from folk traditions from around the UK and Ireland, with a particular focus on the traditional music of Wales. As a recorder player and harpist, Alex has toured Northumberland and Brittany with the Oxford University Ceilidh Band, and enjoys playing in local sessions in his home town and further afield. A 2021/22 New Roots Finalist, his performances are often described as calming and “zen”, looking to transport his audiences to the celtic fringes of the British Isles with the combination of his “soothing” vocals and the tones of the celtic lever harp.

Kaspar ‘Berry’ Rapkin

Kaspar grew up in London and moved to Hertfordshire when he was 9. He learned the guitar when he was 11 when a family friend with a serious disability gave one to him on the condition that Kaspar would learn how to play it. At the age of 12 he discovered Pride and Joy on Guitar Hero and quickly realised this was the blues. This would send him on a path of education and revelation to the blues as a genre and a life style.Kaspar went to New Orleans to celebrate turning 18 where he performed in B.B. Kings Blues Club (and was discovered by Harold Marcho music producer). Harold invited Kaspar back to the states to record his first single Sailing.
