Friday Night Live
Kick off the festival weekend with big sounds and local talent.
Friday sets the tone with an exciting evening of live music from some of St Albans’ favourite performers. Don’t miss the smooth sounds of The Apple Scruffs and the high-energy favourites from An Absolute Shambles. It’s the perfect soundtrack to your first pint – or your third!
And make sure you’re with us with a full glass to toast the Festival’s official opening at 8pm with our MP, Daisy Cooper!
The Apple Scruffs
19:00 - 20.00
The Apple Scruffs
The Apple Scruffs are named after George Harrison's nickname for Beatles fans who hung around the Apple offices hoping to catch their idols. The Scruffs aim to reproduce, as closely as possible, the songs which George wrote and performed in his own right, with the Beatles or with The Travelling Wilburys. Apart from his music they also include reflections of George's spiritual side which, it seems especially, are songs from All Things Must Pass.
Matty (guitar, vocals and spirituality), Rob (vocals and keyboards), Warwick (drums), Dave (bass and vocals), Michael (guitar and vocals) and Sarah (sax and vocals) share a good 200 years of experience - maybe more!
This is their first visit to St Saviour's but plans are afoot for a standalone gig in the not so distant future! Former venues have included Krishna gatherings as well as social clubs, festivals and pubs.
